2008

I haven't posted for a while, but I really don't have much to say. There are a lot of things I would like to talk about, or get motivated about but I just can't. 2008 has been a really hard year for our family and for a few of my friends as well. I really want 2008 to be over. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of a new issue of some sort coming up nearly everyday. I want a 'drama free' life. I know that's not entirely possible, but I don't want the REALLY BAD drama that has happened this year. It just seems that EVERYTHING that could go bad has, and all the usual bad stuff has been WORSE this year. My one friend keeps telling me that GOD will only give me what I can handle. But I think HE has given me to much this year. I'm worn-out, exhausted, beat up. I would just love to crawl into a hole and not come out until 2009. I need a BREAK, some GOOD news, ANYTHING!

We received an offer on our house on Jan. 1 of 2008, we thought we were starting the year off right. We were SADLY mistaken.

There are some days that I don't even want to get out of bed, because I never know when the BAD news will hit me.

I could list all the terrible things of 2008, but I think it would just UPSET and DEPRESS me more. I don't know, maybe it would HELP.

I'm a cake baker...

It's true, I am a baker and decorator. I took cake decorating classes years ago. Before I had the M's I was averaging 1-2 cakes a week. In the spring when it came time for graduation parties my kitchen got crazy!! I remember one weekend I had 5 sheet cakes to do on a Saturday and 2 more on that Sunday. It was a nice little side gig. After M1 was born I slowed to making 1-2 a month and since M2 has been born I have only made a couple graduation cakes and M1's birthday cake. (Lighting McQueen of course.) Its' not that I wanted to stop making cakes, people stopping asking. I think they thought I was too busy. Well I am, but I don't want to be. I WANT TO DECORATE CAKES, PEOPLE!! I can only hope now that the boys have friends and we are in a new town I will get more cake business soon.

Every year about this time a former co- worker contacts me about her daughter's cake. I was just thinking about her last week and she emailed me today asking if I had time to make her daughter's cake. OF COURSE I HAVE TIME!!! You see her daughter is VERY into theater and the big box bakerys like to use icing roses and plastic decorations. Which is fine for some people, but NOT this girl. She challenges me every year. Every year I look forward to her 'cake theme'. Here are some of her birthday cakes from previous years.....

The Nightmare Before Christmas....

I don't remember the name of the show this one is for, it was something on the Sci-Fi channel....
Phantom of the Opera....

What's her theme this year you ask? Twilight, of course. Her Birthday isn't until December 20, so I will have to post a final picture then. This is what she wants this year...

I'm pretty excited to do this design!!

Christmas Presents

I want to wrap Christmas presents BAD!! I can hardly stand it I want to wrap presents so BADLY!! I can't stop thinking about wrapping presents!! I can just see the look on M1's face when he comes down stairs and sees everything wrapped.

I'm (theoretically) done Christmas shopping for the M's. Everything is packed into boxes and taped shut, and is hiding in the basement. I bought new tape and scissors and 'Cars' wrapping paper for all of M1's presents. I think M2's presents will be wrapped in Mickey and Elmo paper from years past. He just isn't old enough to be 'in love' with a character. Elmo and Mickey is what I picked for M1 in the past. This year however when I saw the 'Cars' paper for M1 it was like striking gold!!

I'm sure M2 would rather eat the paper and play in the boxes than pay attention to the toys, but I think M1 will really enjoy Christmas this year.

I just can't wait to wrap presents. I know if I start wrapping them now my Hubby when think I'm crazy. He already thinks I'm crazy, he'll think I'm crazier!!

Thanksgiving....

I am so glad Halloween is over. I can finally take down all the festive and spirited (read:tacky) Halloween decorations and put up the ‘nice’ fall decorations. My Thanksgiving décor includes some beautiful fall colors. Birds, ribbons, turkeys etc. It is so much nicer than Halloween……..

I also joined the bandwagon and made 'Thankful' garland last night!!

Nearly all of my Thanksgiving deorations are new. Everything on the mantle except for the turkey and pilgriams (which my Dad made years ago) and the lamp (which is always there) was purchsed new and on clearance (yea!) this year!!

And we all know how much I love owls!! (See previous post) This one was $6 at Target!

These items are in our never used Family Room. The Turkey was on clearance last year at Cracker Barrel. I made the cornucopia, the pumkins
were 4 for $2.

I love Nutcrakers (wait till they all come out at Chrsitmas) so why not Thanksgiving ones??
I get to look at these little guy every night while I am doing dishes.

Now I just have to figure out what to serve for Thanksgiving Dinner, I'm thinking Bob Evans. Has anyone done the Thanksgiving take out from them before? Is it good?

And why do my walls look white? They aren't white.

For my cousin, she is a Chi Omega and the Owl is the Chi Omega mascot. I bought one for me too, since I am (read: I was) a Chi Omega. You know, back when I was in college and was really cool and fun.

I have also made a wish list FOR ME, Hubby did you here that? I'll post that list when I get time.

Check me out!! I have been made over!! Aren't I pretty? I feel like I should be walking the runway and showing some leg!! I feel so bright and cheerful!!

I know I'm not as fancy as some of you, but I'm still pretty new around here and I am pretty impressed with myself that I managed to do this!! And best of all my makeover was FREE!! There is a new sponsor over at SITS, Little Window Shoppe, and they have FREE layouts. Their button is to your right, go ahead and click on it!!

Thanks SITS and Little Window Shoppe, I feel like a whole new person!! Now if I just had time to get a hair cut.............hmmmmmm...........

Mother Nature… Are you there?

Um Hi,
It’s me, Mommy of M’s. I just wanted to check on you. Do you know its November? The 4th of November actually. Are you doing ok? Did you over sleep this weekend? Did the time change mess you up? I’m pretty worried about you. I just ran out for lunch and it’s 80 degrees out. I’m in Ohio. It’s November. Did you know it’s November? It should be cold, frost, chance of snow showers. It’s hot, sunny, chance of sunburn. What is going on? M1 has on shorts and crocs, with no socks!! Are you ok?

I’m fine with the warm weather, don’t get me wrong. I love having the car windows down and the moon roof open. Who needs snow?? I’m just concerned about you. I hope you are ok. I hope you aren’t just playing with us. Warm weather in November is nothing to play about. Did you know it’s November?

Revised/Updated: Ok, now this is just wrong, there was no reason to be rude, I was just trying to be nice and check on you. You didn't have to go and make it ICE cold out. My car told me this morning that is was 23 degrees. Come on, could we catch a break!

I VOTED TODAY!!

The things I hate about voting:
~Getting up before the sun to get to the polling place.
~Standing in line FOREVER!
~Listening to Chatty Cathy outside while waiting to vote. (Lady, shut the h*$% up, it is early, it is still dark out, it is cold, I have not had caffeine yet, I am tired, I have wet hair, I’m tired of standing, and I don’t give a F@$%!!)
~Getting harassed by people outside before you go into vote. (Aren’t there rules against this??)
~Standing in the ‘S’ line to register (Seriously, Why does my last name have to start with S???)
~ Getting harassed by people outside after you have voted. (Aren’t there rules against this??)

Things I like about voting:
~Free Starbucks after showing your sticker.

~Political Ads are OVER!!!!!

….Auh, The American Dream…….

GO VOTE!!!!
