I'm a cake baker...

It's true, I am a baker and decorator. I took cake decorating classes years ago. Before I had the M's I was averaging 1-2 cakes a week. In the spring when it came time for graduation parties my kitchen got crazy!! I remember one weekend I had 5 sheet cakes to do on a Saturday and 2 more on that Sunday. It was a nice little side gig. After M1 was born I slowed to making 1-2 a month and since M2 has been born I have only made a couple graduation cakes and M1's birthday cake. (Lighting McQueen of course.) Its' not that I wanted to stop making cakes, people stopping asking. I think they thought I was too busy. Well I am, but I don't want to be. I WANT TO DECORATE CAKES, PEOPLE!! I can only hope now that the boys have friends and we are in a new town I will get more cake business soon.

Every year about this time a former co- worker contacts me about her daughter's cake. I was just thinking about her last week and she emailed me today asking if I had time to make her daughter's cake. OF COURSE I HAVE TIME!!! You see her daughter is VERY into theater and the big box bakerys like to use icing roses and plastic decorations. Which is fine for some people, but NOT this girl. She challenges me every year. Every year I look forward to her 'cake theme'. Here are some of her birthday cakes from previous years.....

The Nightmare Before Christmas....

I don't remember the name of the show this one is for, it was something on the Sci-Fi channel....
Phantom of the Opera....

What's her theme this year you ask? Twilight, of course. Her Birthday isn't until December 20, so I will have to post a final picture then. This is what she wants this year...

I'm pretty excited to do this design!!

Those cakes look amazing! That takes some major talent. Please, don't look at the gingerbread house that we attempted to decorate! I have such respect for people who can decorate cakes like that. It is sooo much more difficult than I had ever imagined.
